How do I install Inbox Search?

Install Inbox Search from the Microsoft Marketplace or via the Add-ins button in Outlook. Once installed, click the Inbox Search icon in your Outlook ribbon to open the search pane.

Which Outlook versions are supported?

Inbox Search works with Outlook on the web, Outlook for Windows (new and classic), and Outlook for Mac. It requires a Microsoft 365 or personal Microsoft account.

How does the initial setup work?

When you first open Inbox Search, sign in with your Microsoft account. The add-in will download a small AI model (~34 MB, one-time) and begin indexing your mailbox. Indexing runs in the background and you can start searching right away.

Is my email data sent to any server?

No. All email processing happens locally on your device. Your email content never leaves your computer. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What search features are available?

Inbox Search supports natural language queries as well as filters like from:, to:, folder:, has:attachments, date ranges, -negation, and "exact phrases".

How do I clear my local search index?

Open the settings panel (gear icon in the add-in footer) and click "Clear Index". This removes all locally stored data including embeddings and metadata.

The add-in is not loading or showing errors.
